South Beach was once an industrial shipping area full of warehouses and docks, but has evolved into one of San Francisco’s most popular neighborhoods for both entertainment and living.
This hip, upscale neighborhood is home to dozens of epicurean options, small boutiques and luxury storefronts, entertainment options, and nightlife. Like many other transformed San Francisco neighborhoods, South Beach has emerged as a leader and as a destination.
With some of the best weather in the city, this waterfront neighborhood boasts all the sunny day activities imaginable. At its southern edge is AT&T Park, home of the San Francisco Giants. Further up the coast is the Embarcadero, attracting joggers, cyclists, runners, and power-walkers that enjoy the optimum outdoor experience. Further up to its most northeastern edge are up-close-and-personal views of the Bay Bridge.
This was the first section of Miami Beach to be developed, beginning in the 1910s, thanks to the efforts of Carl G. Fisher, the Lummus Brothers, and John S. Collins, the latter of whom built the Collins Bridge, which provided the first vital land link between mainland Miami and the beaches.
South Beach is a San Francisco neighborhood. South Beach has a population of 3,266 people, with 56 percent men and 44 percent women with a median age of 35. Families with children make up 11% of the population, followed by single-female families (24%), single-male families (31%), and couples (45%).
South Beach, along with a few other neighborhoods in Greater Miami (such as Downtown and Brickell), is one of the places where living without a car is the norm. Because the neighborhood is very urban and pedestrian-friendly, many South Beach residents get around by foot, bicycle, motorcycle, trolley, bus, or taxi. For pedestrians, Lincoln Road, Ocean Drive, Washington Avenue, and Collins Avenue are popular shopping, dining, and entertainment streets.
South Beach is home to many young professionals, and the people who live there are generally liberal.
South Beach is a nice safe neighborhood close to downtown San Francisco for easy access to all that it has to offer while remaining a little quieter. Because the area is mostly residential, some people may find it lacking in stores, though there are a few restaurants and bars.Nov 17, 2019
South Beach's public schools are above average.
South San Francisco is a welcoming and bright community that is close enough to San Francisco to provide ample opportunities for city life. Although housing costs can be high, the overall safety, diversity, and community are excellent.
